The ADA Standards of Care 2025 stress the importance of screening for pre-diabetes in high-risk adults to delay the onset of T2D and complications. Intensive lifestyle behavior change is the first-line for prevention and includes weight loss, exercise, and reduced calorie intake. Randomized clinical trials provide evidence that a reduced-calorie meal plan is effective in delaying T2D and improving cardiometabolic risk factors. Clinical evidence has shown that weight-loss medications and technologies, including CGM, are effective in preventing progression to T2D in patients with pre-diabetes. This session reviews current evidence for treatment options to delay progression of pre-diabetes and how to implement screening and treatment into clinical practice.
